How do I install any version of Backtrack?

I have been trying to install backtrack Linux for a while now. I have installed VM's before but can't seem to do it with backtrack, no matter what version. The problem is that its always downloaded as an ISO. The iso is downloaded zipped and when unzipped to another location the iso file itself doesen't exist, just the contents within that ISO file. So when in VMware it asks what OS to install I no longer seem to have one and doesent recognise the zipped iso. Any ideas what to do?? TIA

Backtrack is obsolete. Use Kali linux....

Backtrack is obsolete. Use Kali linux.
From Backtrack blog:
Kali is a more mature, secure, and enterprise-ready version of BackTrack Linux. Trying to list all the new features and possibilities that are now available in Kali would be an impossible task on this single page. We therefore invite you to visit our new Kali Linux Website and Kali Linux Documentation site to experience the goodness of Kali for yourself.

Nice thing about Kali is they provide VMware images for download.
