Your Virtual Machine must have an IP address that is accessible remotely. That means that the virtual network interface you assigned the Virtual Machine has to be "Bridged" to the network. After that you can SSH, VNC, NX or X tunnel to your heart's content.

VMware Server 2 also is administered via a web interface as you no doubt already know. This web based interface will allow you to use the web based window to access your VM. Type the IP address of the VM server followed by the port number you specified in the setup into your browser window (defaults to 8333) for example "https://192.168.1.2:8333". It will prompt you to install a Firefox or Internet Explorer plugin.
