I would be curious to see if that PC could handle more RAM.

As built, however, I would try LXLE, Lubuntu, or Antix. More options are located here: http://distrowatch.com/search.php?ostype=All&category=Old+Computers&orig...

You do not say which Dell Latitude. I have a few Dell Latitude C400. Try to increase the RAM if you can. The C400 can take up to 2Gb of RAM. One trouble with the C400 is the video and the answer lies here: http://blogs.dailynews.com/click/2010/02/11/intel-82830-cgc-830m-graphics/ . The C400 has a specific external CD-ROM and will not boot from USB?I don't know if PLOP boot loader will work: https://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/445010:weekend-project-use-the-plo...

Which with 256K of RAM? Not a lot. Puppy Linux?
