Hi Everyone, I am a new one in Linux and i do not know which distribution is suitable for me.
I am going to work with java and oracle and some programming.
What is your suggestion for me? Thank you!!!
Pick any of the "big guys": OpenSuse, Ubuntu, Fedora, RedHat(CentOS)...
Marc is right, any of the large distributions will serve that purpose fine.
If you have any more niche or specific requirements than java then we might be able to point you somewhere different.
Oracle's own Linux distribution is built upon Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). So, most any RHEL derivative will work for you to get started. These distributions include RHEL itself, Oracle's Enterprise Linux (OEL), CentOS (Community Enterprise OS), and Scientific Linux (SL - maintained by the biggest physics labs in the world). Software written for any one of these, will (should) work equally well on any of the others.
