NewsFactor Network writes: “Microsoft has reportedly reimbursed the legal fees of the nine states that have settled their antitrust suits against the company, to the tune of approximately US$10 million. The company also will also be required to pay the legal fees of the remaining nine states and the District of Columbia, once those cases are resolved. However, although federal law mandates that corporations found accountable for violations of antitrust laws must reimburse the costs those states incurred for prosecution, they are not obligated to pay for litigation costs incurred by the federal government.”
