Kelly McNeill writes “Apple massive success with the iPod and iTunes combination has caused some industry analysts to draw parallels between the Apple’s current leading position in computing and that which it almost had in the mid-80s. They say that Apple’s position is doomed unless they license their fairplay DRM. Mark White submitted the following editorial to osOpinion/osViews which shows that licensing one’s technology is not a recipe for success and could conceivably dilute their position instead.”
