Apple's firewire to go wireless at 5 GHz

NewsFactor Network writes: "FireWire, a peripheral standard developed by Apple Computer, is not only going mobile, but it is also getting a dramatic boost in speed. Apple has filed a trademark for the name "GigaWire," which appears to be a follow-on standard that will allow enabled devices to communicate at a new ultra-fast 5 GHz frequency resulting in 54 Megabits per second transfer-rates over a wireless connection."
