Offers Full Redundancy for Critical System Components.

BURLINGTON, Mass. – January 17, 2006 – Large enterprises now can protect their computer networks from all manner of security threats with the Astaro Security Gateway 525 – the new flagship of Astaro Corporation’s (www.astaro.com) line of unified threat management network security appliances. The Astaro Security Gateway 525 provides comprehensive protection for organizations demanding multi-gigabit performance and high reliability.

The Astaro Security Gateway 525 uses a dual-processor architecture that is enhanced by an acceleration card that dramatically increases virus-scanning performance to provide high throughput when running multiple simultaneous security applications. In addition, it incorporates gigabit-Ethernet ports that allow for high-speed copper and fiber connections to servers and network components. Fully redundant hot-swappable hard disks and power supplies further enhance reliability for even most demanding enterprises.

“Security at the enterprise level gets more complex every day and every year with the constantly growing number and variety of threats,” said Jan Hichert, CEO of Astaro. “Now, large customers can have both ironclad security at the gateway and the ease-of-use of a tightly integrated management interface, in a cost-effective, all-in-one appliance.”

Astaro’s line of unified threat management appliances integrate nine forms of security to protect computer networks from a variety of threats including viruses, hackers, spam, spyware, phishing and unauthorized content. The Astaro Security Gateway 525 can serve larger organizations of 1000-2000 employees, depending on how many security applications are deployed.

Sophisticated Technology, Flexible Configuration
By featuring dual Intel Xeon™ CPUs, 4 GB of memory and acceleration technology that vastly improves content scanning processes, the Astaro Security Gateway 525 offers firewall throughput of more then 3 Gbps.

Redundant and hot-swappable RAID controlled hard disks and power supplies, as well as integrated support for power event detection from major UPS vendors, ensure non-stop operation in mission-critical applications.

Customers can choose between two base units allowing flexible connectivity via standard gigabit copper ports or through up to six SFP (small form-factor pluggable module) ports, which can be equipped with mini-GBIC interfaces for multi-mode or single-mode fiber connections.

Total Network Security in One Integrated Package, For All Types of Networks
The Astaro Security Gateway appliances sit between the corporate network and the outside world and provide protection for all types of networks and all types of computer systems, including Windows, Linux and Unix-based PCs and servers.

Astaro develops a complete line of network security products – Astaro Security Gateway software and an Astaro Security Gateway line of appliances. All Astaro products provide email security, web security, and network security with up to nine critical security applications fully integrated on a single management platform, including:

Email Security

· Virus Protection for Email – catches viruses in conventional (SMTP and POP3) emails and attachments.

· Spam Protection – uses nine different techniques to filter out spam and without stopping legitimate emails.

· Phishing Protection –blocks emails from criminals trying to trick users into revealing confidential information.
Web Security

· Spyware Protection – detects and blocks spyware infection attempts as well as spyware communication from already infected systems.

· Virus Protection for the Web – defends computers from virus infections from web downloads and web-based emails.

· Content Filtering (Surf Protection) – can block Internet access to 60 categories of web sites.

Network Security

· Firewall – guards Internet communications traffic in and out of the organization with stateful packet inspection and application-level proxies.

· Intrusion Protection – detects and blocks probes and application-based attacks using heuristics, anomaly detection, and pattern-based techniques.

· Virtual Private Network Gateway – assures secure communications with remote offices, “road warriors,” and telecommuters.
