Ballmer memo sends Linux stocks soaring

Shares of Red Hat Inc., the world’s biggest distributor of the free
Linux operating system, and VA Software Corp. rose yesterday a day
after Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said Linux is a
“significant challenge” to his company.
