BARC Uses Linux To Build Grid Computing Network

Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) has successfully deployed a full-scaled grid network at its campus, bringing the commercial enterprise model
closer to reality.

Speaking to CXOtoday, P.S. Dhekne, head- computer division, BARC, explained the commercial viability of grids, Currently the technology is an evolving
stage, and commercial grids will realize in about 2 to 3 years. Major IT vendors such as IBM, SUN, SGI, and Microsoft all are contributing to this
development worldwide. Large projects like CERN (Geneva) are using it already to share experimental data across all collaborators from more than 180
countries.
