EE Times: “The Java programming language is following a varied,
unpredictable course as it works its way into the world of embedded
applications, according to participants in a panel session at this week’s
Embedded System Conference.

The session’s examination of Java’s readiness for real-time and embedded
use was summed up by, consultant George Watson, a principal at Sierra
Computing Software Development. “There is no stock answer,” he said.
“The answer varies from project to project. When I look at the devices that
I’ve been involved in developing there’s quite a range of them that could
use Java, [but] the barriers to adoption for Java are different for each
application.””
