Kelly McNeill writes “Though Windows NT-based operating systems are relatively ubiquitous today, Microsoft’s professional OS had rather humble beginnings. After creating a quick port of the ten year old CP/M operating system, a lawsuit alleging that Microsoft stole Apple’s user Interface, a failed business arrangement with IBM, allegations that Microsoft stole Digital’s intellectual property and maybe also some code developed by Microsoft, only then would this operating system be what it is today. Thomas Hormby submitted the following editorial to osOpinion/osViews, which details some of the events that preceded what is now know as Windows NT.”
