Anonymous Reader writes “Napster partner Bertelsmann has been secretly beta testing another file-swapping service, called Snoopstar, the German trade paper Net-Business revealed. Snoopstar simply allows users to search for music, videos and other files through Napster, Gnutella and iMesh without permitting the user to share files. Why? Only Bertelsmann knows for sure and they aren’t talking, but a system that increases the free-riding problems of existing file-sharing systems only makes those who are sharing files more vulnerable to legal action.”
