In late 2003, the lead developers of two GNU/Linux Desktop distributions started talks on common design goals and the problems faced by smaller desktop vendors. Their solution was to merge their resources and create a new distribution aimed at their common target market. From these efforts Ares Desktop was born.Ares Desktop is a free operating system for computers aimed at the educational, home and small business markets.
