Open source router manufacturer Vyatta announced it has secured $11 million in second round funding with Comcast Interactive Capital. The company received $7.5 million in Series A funding late last year from a group of partners that included ArrowPath and ComVentures, allowing Vyatta to create router and firewall products that cost around one-fifth of similar proprietary solutions.Vyatta makes no bones about setting its sights squarely on Cisco as it vies for a share of the $5 billion corporate router market. Now, the influx of cash from Comcast ought to catapult Vyatta into the cable and telecom business as well.
