Court axes FCC's anti-piracy rules

A federal appeals court Friday threw out controversial regulations that would require the coming generation of digital televisions, DVD recorders and personal computers to contain anti-piracy technology.

The ``broadcast flag'' rules, adopted in November 2003 by the Federal Communications Commission, were designed to address Hollywood's fears that high-definition programming would fall prey to Internet piracy
