“Unbreakable Linux” has proven to be more than a marketing campaign for Oracle Corp. Linux is the foundation for everything the database giant sends
out its Redwood Shores, Calif., doors and that’s something the company wants enterprises to know. Oracle committed to Linux when it announced
Unbreakable in 2002, and now it wants corporate IT shops to do the same, said director of Linux engineering Wim Coekaerts. Oracle announced this week
that its internal migration to Linux from Sun Solaris will be completed by the end of the year and, in this interview, Coekaerts explains how Linux
has transformed Oracle and what’s happening in the industry that makes Linux a fine fit for big business.
