Tyler Riddle writes “Today is the first release of Tyler’s File Commands. Now comes the ooohs and aaaahs, the “who in their right mind would do that??”, the valid point that no one has modified cp in 20 years, and curiosity of how the world will take something so frivolous but cool.

For everyone but me, Tyler’s File Commands is a modified version of cp from Apple’s Darwin. It now includes uber-verbose output with a progress meter and bandwidth calculation. Screen shot available at http://tylers-file-cmd.sourceforge.net/modified_cp .png

Designed with Darwin in mind but known to work on OpenBSD 3.5 and probably any modern BSD, Tyler’s File Commands brings eye candy to a 30 year old program.”
