Demystifying Open Source

I recently met an old friend who told me that he would be switching to Linux because it is cheap. Most people I asked often told me that the reason
they switched or plan to do is because the software is cheap. A good idea, but not just because it is cheap, there are many compelling good reasons to
switch to Linux an open-source software. When open-source software first came into being, many professionals felt that it would not work. Today the
facts and figures of open-source reveal a different story. Many companys production application servers run on Red Hat Linux, with Apache and Tomcat
to serve Web Pages. These budget sensitive companies use Sendmail, an open-source mail server to send mail. Some companies go a step further in using
MySQL, an open-source relational database system.
