Chuck Talk writes “According to a story in EWeek, Microsoft says that their image is being tarnished by a dispute with the Japanese Fair Trade Commission. This dispute arises from a clause within O.E.M. contracts Microsoft has with Japanese companies. Apparently the clause allowed Microsoft to be indemnified from patent infringement suits from any vendor who wished to utilize their operating systems. Microsoft is so far refusing to give in to Japanese demands that the clause be retro-actively removed from past contracts, something the Japanese Fair Trade Commission is demanding.”
