Examining main memory databases
Author: JT Smith
Ted Kenney writes, "The iApplianceWeb site for information appliance development has published an article describing a Linux-based benchmark examining different approaches to real-time, memory-resident data management. The article, written by Steve Graves, CEO of McObject, tests the performance of a 'traditional' database deployed on RAM-disk against main memory database (MMDB) technology designed for memory-only use. Sources of database processing overhead are discussed. The piece is at http://www.iapplianceweb.com/story/OEG20020104S0070."
