7
LinuxWorld 2006 was in the new Boston Convention Center this week filling much of the exhibit space with about 140 booths of all sizes. Most of the big players were exhibiting: AMD, Apple, Business Objects, CA, Dell, EMC, Fujitsu, Hitachi, Intel, HP, IBM, Novell, Oracle, Red Hat, Sybase, and Symantec are some of the more familiar to our manufacturing community. There was even a “dot orgs” area representing the on-line community. Naturally, Linux support was the thread through almost everything, but the event was about a very broad range of current topics and trends, including infrastructure, hardware, applications, open source, grid computing, virtualization, security, mobile, and many others. It was visually clear that these are all interdependent, and that Linux is here to stay.
