SilentBob4 writes “Linux is fast becoming a staple in the technology industry. So true in fact it is almost surpassing Apple’s OS X in popularity. Of course, we all know that Linux server usage is soaring, but the desktop has been slow to materialize as a real presence in the industry. Everyone keeps talking about the ‘year of desktop Linux’ but whether it’s really here or not is debatable. Personally, I don’t think it’s quite there yet, but we’re very close. I’m not in any hurry to rush it in any event, since quality of programming and quality of computing are far more important in the grander scheme of things than whether or not this year or the next is going to be the big year. Once it’s right, that will be the year.”
