Isam Bayazidi writes “For the second year, NOSSTIA and Syria LUG (Arabic site) are organizing “The Free and Open Source Software Workshop” in 2-4 March 2005. Richard Stallman, Glenn McNight Vice President of Linux Professional Institute, Jonas Oberg Vice President of FSF Europe , Khaled Al Ghoniem President Saudi Computer Society, and AbdulRahman AlJadahi President of Saudi LUG are some of the speakers expected. The success of last year’s Open Source workshop in terms of being an eye-opener for diffrent sectors to the value that Free and Open Source software can add paved the way to have another event in 2005 that will go even further, and hopefully result in some actual implementation of FOSS within the Syrian Government.
