An international and local line-up of IT specialists and experts got together to brainstorm about topics on localization, IP-based voice services and SMS FOSS programming, multimedia development and security among other issues. FOSS@Work likewise addressed the growing demand for Free and Open Source Software by companies and its potential benefits including legal and affordable software solutions translated in local languages for SMEs within the SouthEast Asian region. Industry sources believe that widespread FOSS usage will drastically reduce software piracy in the Philippines especially since the Philippines has been ranked as one of the 10 countries in the region for piracy.
