This is the second journal entry logging my participation in Portland, Ore.-based Free Geek’s adoption program, which pays 24 hours of volunteer work recycling old computers with a free-as-in-beer, recycled computer loaded with GNU/Linux and other free software. My not-so-shiny, new machine is what is known as a Freek Box, a Frankensteinian refurbishment built from old, donated computers.
