Samba is an Open Source/Free Software suite that provides seamless file and print services to SMB/CIFS clients including Windows machines. Samba can be installed on Linux and Unix servers and provides interoperability with Windows desktops and Windows file servers. The 2004 IDC server report listed Unix and Linux server sales at 1.48 million servers worldwide or 28.3% of server sales. IDC projects the 2008 Unix and Linux market share at 3.5 millions servers sold or 37.6% of the market.

Freedom Technology Center Announces Additional Nationwide Samba Workshops
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 07/21/2004 -- The Freedom Technology Center (FTC) has announced that it is adding five additional Samba training workshops across the US through the end of the year. The organization has added 4-day hands-on workshops with top Samba instructor John H. Terpstra. The new courses will be held in San Jose (Calif.) on August 16-19, in Los Angeles on September 20-23, in Boston on October 25-28, in Atlanta on November 15-18, and in Seattle November 29-December 2.
