Gateway to re-sell SuSE Enterprise

PC FIRM Gateway is to sell and support SuSE Linux for its enterprise machines, the firm said.

The Gateway-SuSE/Novell alliance will mean validated and tested Gateway servers using the operating system, with one year maintenance on patches and driver updates on OSes sold with its machines.

The reason, according to Scott Weinbrandt, senior VP of the firm's Enterprise System Division, is because SuSE/Novell is the first Linux distribution to get the federal common criteria accreditation for security.

No doubt Gateway â which doesn't have a presence in Europe any more â is dabbling with AMD Opterons as well...
