House Republicans cool to SSSCA

Wired.com reports that House Republicans are calling Sen. Fritz Hollings’ proposed legislation mandating anti-copying devices on all consumer electronics too intrusive. A spokesman for the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Intellectual Property said: “(The chairman) is concerned that this approach is too interventionist and could lead to standards which favor certain brands of software over others, and which could quickly become obsolete as technology improves or changes.”
