How managers can ‘blend’ successfully with IT experts

If you’re an executive, manager, marketing, PR or sales professional, deep down, I’ll bet you’re uncomfortable around open source tech people.

I’m happy to say that you both have something in common. Everybody’s a geek in their own area of expertise. You’re an expert in management, marketing, or sales, right? Techies are experts in … techie stuff. Dare I say that even lawyers and doctors can be geeks. You’ve seen them, they’re out there.

I think business people simply don’t know how to interact effectively with their brethren geeks in totally different fields. You all speak different languages but have similar frustrations. Techies grow impatient when they’re unable to build or fix things, just like you get when you can’t make a sale or get funding for a new venture.
