IBM introduced a new software strategy Monday that could loosen Microsoft’s grip over desktop office software.
IBM’s Workplace technology lets workers access their e-mail, calendars, instant messaging and word processing over the Web. A second underlying technology allows those applications to be distributed to mobile devices such as laptops and handheld computers.
