Every webmaster knows how much time and effort it can take to install CGI scripts. Perhaps some webmasters have been too hesitant to try it.
A new site has been launched to alleviate this problem. InstantCGI.com, opened by Vanilla Networks today, can be used to install a selection of popular CGI scripts directly onto any CGI-enabled Linux/Unix hosted website.
The free service provides easy web-based wizards to install CGI scripts instantly. All scripts are distributed under free license arrangements such as the GNU General Public License (GPL) or Perl's "Artistic License", so website owners can use the scripts for free.
Vanilla Networks Marketing Manager, Nicole Henrick, said: "We have been careful to select only the very best CGI scripts for inclusion at
InstantCGI.com. We have also enhanced some of the scripts to provide increased security and better presentation out of the box".
The scripts currently available at InstantCGI.com include phpMyAdmin, YaBB Bulletin Board, AWStats site statistics, Commerce.cgi Shopping Cart, FormMail, Guestbook, Simple Search, eUpload, Mojo Mail, Calendar of Events and DBMEdit.
"When a customer signs up to use our free service, our systems automatically detect information about their site. The customer can then install each script at the click of a button or two," said Henrick, "It doesn't require any technical skills and since it is quick and free we hope plenty of people will give it a try".
