Intel will Eat Crow and Support AMD's x86-64
Kelly McNeill writes "With the release of AMD's x86-64, Intel has been put in a serious bind. They know that Microsoft can't support two competing chip sets (Intel or AMD's 64) lest developer throw their hands in the air in mass-frustration. Unfortunately (for intel), Itanium wasn't the wild success they hoped it would be, this despite investing massive amounts of R&D into the chip. osViews editorial contributor Rich Maston believes that Intel will have to eat some serious crow, and release its next chip based on AMD's x86-64 technology."
