Intel's new chip set could signal beginning of end

Newsfactor Network: "Time is running out for Rambus. Motherboards based on Intel's long-awaited 845-D chip set, which provides double data rate synchronous dynamic RAM support for the Pentium 4 processor, have finally started hitting the retail market. The initial trickle of 845-D motherboards to appear in the coming days will soon become a flood, challenging memory technology developer Rambus' role and threatening to turn it into a marginal player in the PC component market."
