Chuck Talk writes “OrangeCrate is pleased to announce an interview with Harald Welte of the Netfilter Project. Harald has some interesting insights into the GNU GPL, the Sitecom cause and protecting the original intent of the works of GNU GPL authors.

OC Editor: Thank you, Harald for agreeing to this interview. I would like to ask you, when did the Netfilter project get its start?

Harald Welte: Thank you for your interest in the netfilter/iptables project. It was started in 1999, when the co-author of ipchains (iptables’ predecessor), Paul “Rusty” Russell, decided it was time for yet another incarnation of the linux packet filter.”
