What’s the oldest commercial open source endeavor? We tend to think of Linux vendors like Red Hat or SUSE (Novell). But certainly one of the long-standing ventures is Sleepycat Software with Berkeley DB. Sleepycat is entering its ninth year, and CEO Michael Olson has been involved with Berkeley DB for more than a decade, going back to the Berkeley Unix days when he collaborated on Berkeley DB with Keith Bostic and Margo Seltzer.
