“Hauppauge, New York – ION Computer Systems, Inc. today announced that it has made available one of their new I2X4 servers for online benchmarking of the Intel Itanium 2 processor. Potential customers who would like to upload, compile and benchmark their application on the I2X4 4-processor Intel® Itanium® 2 server may simply request access with a description of their tests.
Most people in high-performance computing are aware of the Itanium 2 processor now, but few know for sure how their application will benefit. With this benchmarking system, ION hopes to help answer that question, said Keith Josephson, Chief Technical Officer at ION.
The ION I2X4 benchmarking system is configured with (4) Itanium 2 processors at 900MHz. with 1536kB of L3 Cache, and 8GB of memory. The system runs the Linux® operating system and has a selection of compilers and performance tools common to technical computing.
To insure that technical computing users can complete their price / performance analysis of the I2X4 system, ION offers an on-line Configurator that allows full online configuration, pricing and purchasing.
