Tay Hock Keong writes: The JD4X project is a basic GUI Windowing Environment developed to support the Java Programming Language based on top of the X Window system. It was developed with the intention of providing a Java environment that allows Java programmers to build and extend a windowing system purely in Java. However, the project itself is not pure Java and uses a mixture of Java and C.

JD4X gives the Java developer a greater level of productivity, control and freedom. Java developers are free to build their own Java desktop with JD4X. JD4X is capable of running native Linux applications as well as provide intuitive support for Java applications. All these facilities are provided in a totally Java environment.”JD4X gives the Java developer a greater level of productivity, control and freedom.
