When you install Linux, you’ll usually do so from a distribution: one or more CDs containing an installer, the Linux kernel, and an assortment of popular GNU/Linux software.
SuSE, Red Hat, Debian, Lindows, and Mandrake are all well-known distributions, but there are literally hundreds of others targeted at different types of users.
