Linus, Stallman win Takeda Award

MIT Tech reports that “Software pioneer and MIT research affiliate Richard M. Stallman has been named as a co-winner of the 2001 Takeda Award for Techno-Entrepreneurial Achievement for Social/Economic Well-Being.” MIT’s interest is in RMS but Linux creator Linus Torvalds has also won, as has TRON open architecture developer Ken Sakamura. Each of the prize winners will take home about $830,000.
