When you’re dukin’ it out with Microsoft, a little solidarity can go a long way. At least that’s the approach Linux-backers are taking by agreeing on a standard version.
The announcement came with a thumbs-up from some of the biggest names in technology, including Intel, Advanced Micro Devices, Hewlett-Packard, Dell and IBM.
The agreement is aimed at preventing Linux from splintering into competing versions, which happened years ago with the Unix operating system.
