Linux can open door to jobs, experts say

It has been a tough job market for just about every technical profession the last few years, but the demand for Linux professionals is on the rise.

David Foote, president and chief research officer at Connecticut-based research firm Foote Partners LLC, said that Linux experts are seeing bigger
salaries and more job openings.

“I think we started seeing the bump in Linux pay about a year ago,” he said. “In 2002, we started to see movement, and then it started to build in
2003. I would make the case that Linux as a technology is in a much stronger position than it was 12 or 15 months ago.”
