While Linux drivers are popular in the development of new products, conditions in the marketplace and legal confusion surrounding open source IP has prevented the support and code sharing of many drivers. Unfortunately, this acts as a limiting factor to adopting Linux in the enterprise, but the technical and structural challenges to Linux device drivers have encouraged initiatives aimed at improving the situation.
