Mircea MITU writes “BitDefender for Mail Servers version 1.5.6 (Seraph) is out, featuring SpamTOX, the BitDefender AntiSpam.

BitDefender launches the new version of the BitDefender for Linux Mail Servers products today. The lineup includes new versions of the antivirus for Sendmail, Postfix, qmail and SMTP Proxy for e-mail environments running even on non-Unix systems, like Exchange, Lotus Notes, Novell Groupwise.

The new generation brings a total novelty into the BitDefender product line: a antispam solution for Linux mailservers which is based on state-of-the art technologies and wrapped into a module. The beta version of BitDefender Antispam module can be downloaded along with a trial version of your BitDefender mailserver antivirus of choice. Caution! Registration as a beta tester may bring unexpected benefits!

This version also sees the inclusion of some nifty new features, such as a remote administration module which lets the admin configure antivirus and antispam protection from either a Webmin interface or a Windows console. Another novelty is that the BitDefender antivirus will add information into the header of mail messages, signaling whether the message is clean or suspicious and what viruses were found (if any). More detail about changes in the current version can be found in the Release Notes for BitDefender for Linux MailServers v 1.5.6 (Seraph)
