Linux Security Patches Released

According to Elizabeth Millard, www.enterprise-linux-it.com, Linux vendors have issued advisories and patches this week for a number of different vulnerabilities affecting the Linux operating system.

Red Hat (Nasdaq: RHAT – news), Novell (Nasdaq: NOVL – news) SuSE, Mandrakesoft, Debian and Gentoo all have put out patches aimed at fixing flaws that have cropped up recently.

The patches are in response to vulnerabilities that could have become security threats to users. These include denial-of-service threats, buffer overflow attacks, and the use of Adobe (Nasdaq: ADBE – news) Acrobat-created documents for taking over a user’s machine.
