covering the hot Linux news of
the week. In particular, we will talk about the
S-390 that IBM has made
available to the community, and lots more

In Segments Two- Is there a Linux Glass
Ceiling

Motivated by the announcement May 9th that GirlGeeks will Partner with
LinuxCertified to Provide Key Linux skills to Women
IT
Professionals,
it occured to us to ask “why
is this gender specific
program needed?” So, we have to face the basic
issue whether or not there
exists a glass ceiling in the Linux Community
as it does in the
greater IT community.

We will be joined by Viktorie Navratilova,
Kristine Hanna, Natasha
Zaslove and Chandler Kant (of Linux Certified).
,

Viktorie Navratilova is a well known Linux advocate,
lug member and author
of a series of very well received articles on Linux
for The Chicago Tribune.

Kristine Hanna is the co-founder, president and CEO
of GirlGeeks, the career
success site for women in IT. Kristine became
passionate about providing
techy women the resources they need to succeed while
working as digital
effects producer, most recently for George Lucas;
Kristine was nominated for
two Emmy Awards.

Natasha Zaslove is the director of marketing for
GirlGeeks. In a former
career life, Natasha was a lawyer representing
government entities in
complex construction projects; her disillusionment
with the legal
profession, passion for technology and ensuing
search for a more fulfilling
career led Natasha to join GirlGeeks where she is
able to help other women
discover their IT career dreams.

Chander Kant is founder and president of
LinuxCertified, Inc,
a leading provider of Linux training and expertise.
Chander has
been involved with technology and business side of
Linux in many
different projects. He is very enthusiastic about
enabling Linux as
a mainstream operating system.

We will discuss the existence of that glass ceiling,
and why GirlGeeks
partnered with LinuxCertified as a reaction to a
need to provid women ready
access to Linux training. We will expand the
conversation to include
information specific to the new alliance between
GeekGirls and
LinuxCertified.

In Segments Three- Eric’s View: The Mundie
Affair

A week and a half ago we were given a heads up by
Eric Raymond about a
speech that was coming up by Craig Mundie of
Microsoft, and Eric predicted
correctly that this would be the launch of one of
the most controversial
attacks on Open Source yet launched by Microsoft. To
say Eric was right is
one of the understatements of the year.

It was our hope last week to have Eric and Craig
Mundie from Microsoft come
on last weeks show. Mr Mundie is still dodging our
requests, eric on the
otherhand will be on the show to express his opinion
on the issue.

Other opinions are welcome at GeekCast. If you
would like to join
us
on the show, check our IRC Chat
(irc.thelinuxshow.com #linuxshow).

Remember tune in at 6pm pt, 7pm mt, 8pm ct, and 9pm
et.
