Linux takes on OS Goliath

It's official. Linux will take on the Windows goliath. Germany , Spain , Brazil , Israel and Mexico are rolling out state sponsored
initiatives to develop a robust Linux based computer operating system (OS) and applications.

This is their strongest opposition to Microsoft's Windows. Japan , Korea and China recently announced that they are working on an alternative OS to
Windows which is again based on Linux platform.

The Spanish government is in the process of acquiring over 80,000 Linux desktops for its education department. Under this, every two student in the
country will get to share a computer. The open platform move in education alone is expected to save Spain over 20 million euros a year.
