LinuxTag 2005 starts in just 100 days

Markus Beckedahl writes “On July, 22nd LinuxTag, the most significant Free Software and Open Source event in Europe, finally opens its gates. Four days long Congress Centrum Karlsruhe, following the “where.com meets. org†motto, will serve as a meeting place of IT decision makers, software developers and operators of Linux & Co. The idea of exhibition presented along with various panel conferences has been prooved in the ten years existence and will be restored in this year’s LinuxTag.

Business Congress on the July, 22nd is directed to IT companies managers. New applications and technological innovations will be presented together with the guidance on investments in the IT infrastructures. In addition to the Business Congress, from July 21st till 23nd tutorials will take place. Under the guidance of prominent experts small groups of participants will learn in details about particular themes. A prior registration is required.

Furthermore, on July 22nd under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior The Public Authority Congress will take place. IT executives and public authority managers are invited to learn about the Free Software in the open content management on the basis of practical examples.

On the LinuxTag (22 till 25 July) panel exposition visitors will be presented with the most recent technological trends and will be encouraged to live experience of Free Software. This year more than 150 exhibitors representing IT companies and free projects will display their products and software solutions. Interested visitors can find information on technological, political, and social aspects of Free Software.

Dynamics and developmnent in the multimedia sector is extraordinary; applications useful for instance in video processing are becomming a standard for numerous users. “Video Under Linux†is therefore an important aspect of the LinuxTag program.

One of the other key element of LinuxTag 2005 is Practical Linux Forum. Here all sorts of questions concerning everyday use of Linux will be adressed and illustrated with practical examples. The LAMP-Day is dedicated to the Linux system applications, Apache, MySQL, and PHP.”
