Loophole in Broadcast Flag for Open Source

Ernest_Miller writes “Apparently, the recent mandate by the FCC that all televisions and associated devices recognize the broadcast flag by July 2005 has a bit of a loophole. The mandate only applies to devices for US distribution and sale. So, you are free to work on open source demodulators without DRM, just so long as they are for export only.”
