Do you have strong database, Web and open source software skills? Or is your company seeking people with those skills? In either case, the fact that companies are looking for (and hiring) database/Web development experts, at all levels, clearly indicates increased spending and growth in business and IT.
According to Rob Jones, Senior Recruiter for hotlinuxjobs.com, LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) related skills are a bright spot in the recruiting market, these days. In 2004, he had roughly 15 clients that were looking for people with database skills, particularly at the enterprise level. He handles Linux and open source opportunities of all types and said that 2004 has been their best year, yet. Jones expects 2005 to be even better.
